This event kicks off the Advent season each year on the first Saturday of December, from 2:00-3:30 PM in McKenna Hall.

Children are guided in “building" a 15-inch bear by high school students in Sussex and Morris Counties (including Pope John High School, Newton High School, Sparta High School, Morris Catholic High School), and Our Lady of the Lake Confirmation candidates. The finished stuffed bears and accompanying letters are blessed by Father, and are then donated to multiple shelters in both Sussex and Morris counties.

In addition, enjoy a short musical event of Christmas carols performed by our high school students, and some piano and guitar accompaniment during the festive occasion.  We have some treats, desserts and hot chocolate, and close the afternoon with a sing-along as Santa makes his appearance! The children help Santa pack the bears and letters into his sack which are then delivered to the children in shelters.
